DIY Maxi Dress – New Look 6207

(This and next week’s post were written prior to the discovery of CEMO’s illnes.)

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

In today’s post, I’m sharing more highlights from our amazing Viking River Cruise, celebrating my husband’s recent retirement.  If you missed the last vacation post, you may check it out HERE.  If you’ve ever thought of cruising along the Danube river, I do recommend checking out Viking.  Whenever we told anyone of our plans to take this cruise, we always got excellent reviews.  However, when we told one of the flight attendants on our flight out where we were going, he told us we were too young for that.  Hahaha!  We had a blast!  CEMO’s retired now and we intend to have as much fun as possible while we’re still able.

The architecture in Europe is breathtakingly beautiful.  We visited several cathedrals, and my goodness, the amazing detailed structures are like none I’ve ever seen.  I really don’t have words to describe them.  They speak for themselves.  We attended an organ concert at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Passau, Germany. The organ hosts a whopping 17,974 organ pipes, 233 stops and four carillons. All five parts of the organ can be played from the main keyboard, one at a time or all together. It was incredible.

I absolutely loved the oriel windows and window planters on the buildings.  Oh, how I would enjoy sitting at the oriel window, reading a book and having a cup of tea.

This pattern has been on my radar for the longest time.  I really don’t know what took me so long to sew it up, but I’m glad I finally did because I absolutely love it.  I picked up this pink, snakeskin-print, rayon knit fabric from Michael Levine in Downtown, Los Angeles (link below).  The dress is super comfortable and another easy sewing project.  I waited until the last minute to make dresses for the trip so I needed easy patterns to work with.  This is a winner and I may even consider making another one.
