Happy Wednesday Everyone!
I had the most amazing weekend, celebrating with my Fierce50 sisters. For those of you who don’t know, I’m a member of the Fierce50 Revolution. It’s a group of women bloggers and Instagramers, age 50+, who are showing the world that life doesn’t end at mid-life. We are here and we are FIERCE! A small group of us gathered in Redondo Beach, California over the weekend to launch the Cat & Kaehler Radio Show and celebrate one another. (Note: This is a photo-heavy post/ Courtesy of CEMO & Mike Castagna)
Friday night we met on the roof top of the Redondo Beach Hotel for a launch party, photo shoot, cocktails, dinner and dancing. Oooohhh, it was so much FUN! The majority of us were meeting in-person for the first time and we enjoyed laughter, screaming, hugging, and chatting. It warmed my heart so much to see several husband photographers with their wives. I was so happy that CEMO had other guys with a common interest to spend the weekend with. Their support means everything to us. Priceless!!!
The evening was full of activities. Madison Reed filmed a promo video for their company during the launch party. We had an awesome female DJ, named Sahara, who rocked the house with some old school jams that we could all relate to. We also got silly, in a fierce kind of way, at the photo booth. Both the DJ and Photo Booth were provided by VOXDJ’s, Inc., so if you’re in the area and planning a party, definitely check them out. Our dinner was catered by Rockefeller Gastro Pub. The food was delicious and very pleasing to the eye.
Upon arrival, we were given our name tags and glam tote bags from Chico’s, full of awesome products from some of the fierce50 sponsors, such as; Madison Reed, Dermalogica, Lylo, Arctic Cool, and Manna Dabholkar. There were also lots of giveaways in the raffle held during the event. What an amazing evening!
On Saturday morning, French Kande hosted a wonderful brunch for us from their fabulous jewelry design studio, and we got to see some of the stunning custom pieces made by the company. We were all given a French Kande bracelet and shared a bit about ourselves after hearing how Kande got started. It was so inspirational to hear the confidence that shined through as these women shared their stories, and I found myself identifying with a part of each one. When I walked in the room, the first person I saw was a cute young lady who was wearing my fabric, so I grabbed her to take a photo with me. We asked about each other’s garments and laughed. She bought hers and I made mine. She was such a sweetheart.
After the brunch we were on our own until Saturday evening when we met at the Redondo Beach Pier for a group photo. Chico’s provided us with cute straw hats and we held American flag pinwheels. Do you know how much work it is to get a lot of women together for a group photo? Hahaha! We were having so much fun that our photographer had to keep yelling out instructions. Hahaha! We love you Mike! After our group shot, I took advantage of the ocean backdrop and posed for a few photos in my comfy caftan that I made.
After the photo shoot, we all walked over to Hots Kitchen for dinner. I’ve never eaten there but I can assure you we’ll be going back. The food was great but my favorites were the homemade tortilla chips and guacamole. Oh my goodness!!! I kept eating and eating them until I just forced myself to stop. We had great conversation during dinner and I learned some awesome tips on how to create Instagram Stories. So if you follow me on Instagram (@anitabydesign), you’ll start to see more stories from me. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos at the restaurant. I was too busy eating.
On Sunday morning, Chico’s hosted us for a brunch and shopping before the store opened. Managers were sent from several stores and they took amazing care of us. Chico’s is a huge supporter of the Fierce50 and I have much respect for them. While my sisters tried on clothes, I shopped the jewelry counter and found several pieces that I took home , which you’ll see them in upcoming posts. After more photos and a final group shot, our fabulous Fierce50 weekend was over. Seriously, it went by way too fast.
Being with the women this weekend further supports my belief that when you are confident in who you are, when you follow your passion, living from a place of gratitude and embracing your position in life, God will bless others through you. We need community! We need companionship! We need purpose! Above all we need God!
I wish you all a lovely rest of the week!
Remember: “When you live in your DESIGN, it is from there that God SHINES!”
