Moving on to Spring!

Hello everyone!  I’m winding down from a very busy week, and I’ve been reminded through a devotional that I read earlier last week, that attitude is what determines the kind of day I will have.  Regardless of the challenges that lie ahead of me on any given day, it is my attitude that will cause me to either RISE or be DEFEATED.  I choose to rise to any challenge that is before me, because I know that God will see me through.  He is my strength and my source of peace in challenging times.  At the end of the day, if I’ve done that which pleases Him, then all is well.

Moving into Spring!

Now that I’ve conquered last week, I’m moving into spring!  I’m in love with this lovely top that says, “Spring is in the air.”  I’ve had this fabric in my stash for quite a while, and my original plan, at purchase, was to make a maxi skirt.  However, when I looked through the stash to find a nice, light-weight fabric for the top, I thought this would be gorgeous.  I think it was a great choice.  I love this top so much that I think I will make another one in a solid color.  This beauty would look fabulous with a pencil skirt, a pair of flair bottom jeans, or a pair of shorts.  Unfortunately, the pattern for this top is out of print, and the fabric that I purchased in-store from JoAnn’s some time ago is not on their website.

Create the Look

  • Pattern = Vogue 1245 (View B) Out of Print
  • Fabric = My Stash (100% Rayon)
  • Skirt = Dilliard’s (very old purchase)
  • Hat = Burlington Coat Factory (in-store purchase)

Beginner’s Sewing Course

Congratulations to Adrian Brown for winning the Beginner’s Sewing Kit. Thank you to everyone who entered. I enjoyed reading why you’re all joining the course. Make sure you print your shopping list that I linked in last week’s post HERE. I look forward to sewing with you all. See in the studio on May 6th!

 What About You?

So beautiful, Anita. I love the fabric!! It goes perfectly with the skirt.

Our attitude is the one thing we always have control over. Sometimes the most challenging of days can reap the most rewards simply based on how we choose to respond. Choosing to remember that God has it all under control helps me choose to have a positive attitude about challenging situations. But it’s not always easy. Thanks for another great post!

Thanks, Sheila! Yes, He’s got it under control. You’re so right about the most challenging days bringing the most rewards. I experienced it last week, time and time again. God is good!

It’s very interesting that you posted this because yesterday I had a challenging situation that thankfully I had my sister to support me and get my mind/attitude right. I had asked a person of authority for their opinion regarding a project I was working on. The response I received was confusing and less than flattering. I felt that the person was not genuinely “for me” in the situation and it left me discouraged and deflated. My sister supported me and encouraged me to trust my own ability and my own sensibility and it was enough to recharge my attitude about the project. I decided to keep working and I am satisfied with what I created. Whether or not it goes anywhere is not in my control but I am glad that I threw my hat in the ring!

The off the shoulder top is on trend and on point! Great post!

Oh Su, having that support is a blessing. I’m so glad you persevered through it, and I’m convinced that the challenging times are what help to build our character the most. With your sister by your side, you were able to pick yourself up and move on, not dwelling on someone else’s actions. What your sister does for you is what my God does for me. I have a community of sister-friends who I can call on when I need someone to talk to, or someone to straighten me out. However, there are limits to their availability. With God there are no limits. I can call on Him anytime, and He’s there, ready and willing to get me straight and point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the compliment on the top. Glad you enjoyed the post.

This is a triple A in my book… Absolutely Amazing Anita!
When I’m challenged I ask God to refresh my memory of all the times He’a gotten me through and I digress. When I decrease of myself in “my moment” I’m able to allow His faithfulness to give me the strength to keep on keeping on!

    1. Anita Morris

Yes! Yes! YES! Thank you for that Word! “Decrease of myself.” That’s it!!!
