MCCALL'S 8138 | SEW ALONG

It’s about that time! Many have been asking, “When is the next Sew Along?” Today is the DAY! The McCall’s 8138 Sew Along is for those who would like to sew this cute Knit, Fit & Flare Dress with a little assistance. The exposed zipper is enough to make most beginners skip the pattern all together. But don’t be too fast to walk away. I’ve got you covered with step-by-step directions for installing that zipper.

If you missed the Pattern Review that I posted to my YouTube channel about this dress, I recommend watching that video first (link below my signature). That’s where I give you all the information about the pattern to help you prepare in advance. Then you can join the Sew Along. This tutorial assumes you already have basic sewing skills. If you have not learned to sew yet, I highly recommend you join the waitlist for my New Beginners Sewing Course.

When I made this dress the first time, I loved it so much that I knew it would be a repeat sewing project. Now that I’ve sewn it a second time, I must make another one in a print fabric.

I styled it with a hat from my collection and a pair of high heel pumps. It would look just as amazing as the first dress with all the same styling options. Both dresses will get lots of wear. I’ve already worn the black version about three times. I cut the beige dress one size smaller and I like the fit better in the armhole area.

I like the yellow bubble gauze dress and plan to make it. I am an intermediate sewer but haven’t sewn in awhile. You have inspired me to get back into it.

I plan to make the zipper dress also!
