Hello everyone! This week we celebrated our youngest son’s 18th birthday. I sat thinking last night about how life is constantly changing before our eyes. I thought about the reality that one day my husband and I will have an empty nest. While I can’t imagine what that will be like, I know it’s coming and I must be ready to embrace the next season of life. With each season comes blessings, trials, lessons and growth. We are wise if we are moving forward with the seasons of life. To linger in the past, when it is clear that the season has come to an end, is surely a recipe for missed opportunities in the present.
Pink Wool Blend Coat
Now, when it comes to sewing, the changing seasons DO NOT apply to “me.” While many seamstresses have moved on to creating their spring wardrobe, I’m still in winter. One of the benefits I love about sewing for myself is that I can make whatever I want, whenever I want. If I want to make a coat near the end of winter, then I do it. There is no penalty for sewing out-of-season garments. Unlike shopping ready-to-wear, I’m not restricted by seasonal availability. Oh, how wonderful it is!
This gorgeous pink coat is one of the reasons I’m extremely happy I know how to sew. This beauty has been on my list of “must-have’s” since I first laid eyes on the pattern months ago. I knew that I wanted to make it in pink with a hat to match, and was happy to find this cute cloche hat pattern on Etsy. The hat was very easy to make, however, I would not recommend the coat pattern for beginners. Design information is listed below for anyone interested in creating this look.
