Burda 7053 & Reversible Knit

Hello everyone!  The month of August is quickly coming to a close and it’s time to start transitioning into fall sewing, but I’m NOT ready yet.  It’s still quite warm in my area, and I plan to take advantage of the weather and sew a few more summer dresses.  Also, I want a few more pieces for an upcoming getaway with my husband.

It’s such a busy time for me right now, because my youngest son and all the young ladies I mentor are starting college and I’ve been meeting with each of them individually just to have a final conversation as they transition into their new seasons of life.  God really blessed me when He put these young people in my life.  I have two biological sons and 11 spiritual daughters.  I am blessed indeed.

About Dress?

I love princess seams.  I like the design lines, the fitting options, and the color blocking opportunities.  For this dress I used this beautiful reversible knit that I picked up from JoAnn’s Fabrics.  Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find it on the website.  Usually I stay away from small stripes, because looking at them makes me dizzy.  However, the contrast of the stripes with the red looked so good that I had to give it a try.  I didn’t get that dizzy feeling until looking at the photos.  In person it looks just fine, but in some of the photos the stripes went wavy and I don’t know why.  My husband and I couldn’t figure it out, so I only chose a few photos to share.  Unfortunately the back view photos were all really wavy, but it’s the same design as the front, with the center panel in stripes and the side panels in red.

Anita you killed this!!! Omg You will not believe I also lucked upon this fabric one day at Joanns and I bought all they had. Then found it available here and I shot right over to get it. It was kinda hidden because they had it turned on the red side. I bought like 10 yards because I saw so many possibilities for it. You gave me yet another idea. Ladies it’s worth it!!!

Sandi, it was the same at our store. It was rolled on the bolt with the red side showing, and I was drawn to the deep red, so I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out and saw the reverse side. Yes, so many possibilities! Have fun with your fabric.
