Baring Shoulders with Animal Prints

Hello everyone!  September is almost over and I still don’t have my sewing studio painted.  Sigh~~~!  Painting the room is the first step in my decorating process.  I have picked up many color swatches but haven’t been able to commit to a color yet.  So, instead of rushing myself, for the sake of getting it done, and making a decision that I may regret later, I’ve decided to just relax and let it happen in its own time.  That means I will begin recording tutorials again before the space is completed (or even started) and maybe share the progress along the way.  This also means that the project I had planned to launch in early 2017 will be pushed back until later in the year.  It’s no big deal.  As long as I have a cutting table and sewing table set up, I can record tutorials. So stay tuned!

Baring Shoulders with Animal Prints

So, what do you get when you accentuate bare shoulders with an animal print?  I say, SASSY!  Today, I’m bringing you another shoulder baring top, but this time it’s a fitted design.  This is a Simplicity pattern with five different design options to choose from.  I chose view D, with the “off-the-shoulder design, shoulder straps, and 3/4 length sleeves.  I eliminated the band that is designed to be attached to the top edge because I didn’t want to fuss with keeping it in place during wear.  I used a leftover fabric from my stash that was used for a dress I made last year.  This ITY fabric was purchased at Michael Levine’s (link to similar prints below).  I think the top is very versatile.  I see it dressed up with a brown, black, or gold pencil skirt, and a pair of high heel booties.  For a more relaxed look, a long, white, flowing maxi skirt with a pair of wedge heels.  You could even dress it down a bit more than I have by adorning a pair of white shorts and a comfy pair of sandals.

I recognized this top cuz i have this pattern, although i have sewn any of them yet. Lol! Been looking through my patterns trying to figure out what to sew next. Maybe this will be it. Hopefully i have some fabric as nice as your choice in my stash. Your top should have been one of the views on the pattern. Nice print choice and how u paired it with the pants. Great style!

Hi! Quick question that’s entirely off topic.
Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird
when browsing from my iphone 4. I’m trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to correct this issue.
If you have any recommendations, please share. Thank you!

Hi Anita! I really like this top and animal prints are one of my favorites. Your modified version turns this simple design into an upscaled look. Very nice!
