Hello everyone! Is it really April already? Seriously, I can’t sew fast enough to keep up with the passing of time. The spring pattern releases have me wanting to sew all day, everyday. I’m keeping today’s DIY post short because there are so many AWESOME things going on that I want to share. Check out all the good news below.
Sew Sew Def Magazine
The first multicultural magazine for women and men, Sew Sew Def Magazine, has launched. If you haven’t already subscribed, what are you waiting for? I’m so blessed to be part of this amazing publication and excited for you to see the first issue, so head over to sewsewdefmag.com to get signed up. You’re in for a special treat! A huge CONGRATULATIONS and Thank You to Mimi Goodwin and Norris Dantaford for a job well done!
That Sewing Blab – Interview
I am honored to have been featured on That Sewing Blab, a “live” show that aims to educate and entertain sewing lovers of all levels. If you were not able to watch the show live yesterday, you may catch the replay at That Sewing Blab YouTube Channel. A huge thanks to Dawn Pengelly of Duelling Designs and Myra Rentmeester of Simple Inspirations for a fun time on the show.
Boho Style Dress – McCall’s 7563
This cute boho-style dress is on my “love it” list of DIY garments. I’m also in love with the gorgeous crepe fabric I found from the Michael Levine Loft. It’s a fun print that reminds me of popcorn. Its light weight makes it a great choice for spring and summer garments.
Create the Look!
- Pattern: McCall’s 7563 (View D) – Shoulder ties omitted
- Fabric: Options, Options, Options
Thanks for stopping by!

How cute! Love it.
Thanks Krystal!
This is so cute! Love how you dressed it up & down with the shoes. I just used this pattern too! I made View A in a floral silk crepe, please check it out here http://ixthirty.com/diy-off-the-shoulder-top-m7563-pattern-review and let me know what you think!
Thanks!
Hi Dominique! Thank you! I just took a look at your top and I love it. Beautiful choice of fabric and I love the way you’ve styled it. Gorgeous!
Hi Anita,
I love this dress, the shoulders caught my attention. I just wrote down the pattern number so I can purchase. You will see this on me and my blog this summer. Great work as usual.
Thanks LaToria!
OMG! This dress is absolutely adorable on you! You know I love your style so much and you’re a GREAT inspiration for what a lady should look like! I truly enjoyed interviewing you on That Sewing Blab and thank you so much for allowing us to do so! I hope you don’t mind…you may see this dress on my blog sometime this summer too!
Heeey Myra! Oh thank you so much! I had such a blast with you ladies on the Blab. Of course I don’t mind. You never have to ask permission from me. It’s really a cute dress. I’m wearing it right now. I think I’ll be making more because it’s so comfy. Much love sew sister!
Hi Anita,
This dress is so chic and very feminine. The sleeves are eye catching and I love the fabric choice. A perfect dress when you want to feel girly girl pretty. So pretty!
P.S. I enjoyed your interview on “That Sewing Blab”. You are well on your way to great success in a God blessed way!!!
Hi Sandra! Thank you so much! I agree with you about feeling girl girly! I want more dresses like this. I’m so glad you watched the interview. I had fun with the ladies.
You pull off every outfit that you make Anita. I don’t think I’ve seen one bad garment on you. Btw have you ever been to Mood fabrics in LA? I’m a beginner seamstress but I’ve heard amazing things about Mood…such as they buy fabric from top designers in fashion and resell it for cheaper…I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of them but hopefully you can give your opinion/thoughts on their store!
Hey Vienna! Thank you so much! Would you believe I haven’t been to Mood yet? I will be checking them out soon though. I’ll share after my visit.
I like your fabric choice much better than that of the McCall’s pattern. I also like view D better than the tiered skirt. Great choice! Its really beautiful on you.
Thanks Sheila!
