Celebrating Mom!

Hello everyone!  Today, I’m Celebrating Mom!  My mom!  I hope all you moms out there had a wonderful weekend doing whatever makes you happy.  My husband and I took my mom out to lunch, perfume shopping, and did a photo shoot.  Her absolute favorite thing in the world is perfume.  I think she knows everything there is to know about it, and has more fragrances than any one person should ever have (according to me, LOL).  You will never catch my mom not wearing fragrance or nail polish.  I honestly don’t remember a day in my life when she didn’t smell good or was without painted nails.  She taught me and my two younger sisters to keep ourselves clean and pretty, and she modeled that for us daily.

Inspiration & Impact

My fondest memory of my mom (when I was a child) is hearing her pray in the bathroom every morning.  My bedroom was right next to the bathroom and while getting ready for work she never stopped praying the entire time she was in that room.  It was her prayer room.  I never knew the words she was speaking, but I heard the whispers of prayer to God.  I will cherish those whispers always.

One thing my mom taught me is the value of hard work.  She worked so hard to take care of me and my sisters.  She had to do it all by herself, and she worked many hours, days and nights, to provide for our family.  There were times when she didn’t have a vehicle, so she took the bus to work.  She did what she had to do, and God protected her.  We didn’t have much growing up and she taught us how to make it with what we had.  I attribute my hard work ethic to watching my mom hold down a household, work many jobs, and raise three daughters, all on her own.

My mom taught us to have respect for ourselves and other people.  I remember her telling me, “Don’t ever think you’re better than anybody else.”  I have taught the same to my boys.  No matter where you go in life, all people have value.  All people want to feel valued and respected.

Thank you, mama, for all you did for me and my sisters.  Thank you for your support and encouragement over the years.  Most of all, thank you for loving us.  You are the mom God blessed me with, and I’m grateful.  I love you!

You truly are an inspiration and as I’ve stated before, definitely a classy LADY. Its obvious you have your mom to thank for that. Great post and I look forward to more. I love your motto; I need that on a t-shirt:-) Stay encouraged and I pray that God will continue to bless you as you walk in your design.

Thank you for your post. You two ladies look FABULOUS! My mom instilled the same values in me as your mother did with her daughters. People have value and deserve respect.

I like when you shared how your got her dance on. It reminds me of a video my father captured when my mom was dancing in her front yard. It made me smile.

I am blessed to still have her, an awesome stepmother and dad. Keep shining His light and walking in His grace. I look forward to learning to sew with you.

Oh, Vicki, thank you so much! I love the story of your mom dancing in the front yard. There was a live band in the courtyard where we took my mom for lunch and they were jamming a Gap Band song, so she had to stop real quick and dance. It was so fun to watch her. She loves to dance. Yes, we are blessed to still have our moms.

I will do my best to shine the light of Jesus in every area of my life. I’m so excited to have you sew with me. Have a beautiful day!

This brought me to tears. I have my mom in my heart as she is no longer with me. Mother’s Day always makes me appreciate the fact that she brought me into this world and gave me everything she had to give. I’m who I am today because of her. I’m definitely a stronger person and it makes me a better mom for my children. God bless you and your mom, Anita. This is such a sweet post!

Now to the your dress, how do manage to find this prints that I never would have looked a twice and make the work so beautifully? I just need to spend time with you fabric shopping!

Hey Terri! Thanks so much! I’m glad you had a nice time with your mom. They are certainly to be cherished.

LOL! I’m learning to just purchase what my eye is drawn to and give it a try. I see other people use fabrics that I wouldn’t look twice at either. The more I see, the more I want to be adventurous. Have a beautiful day!
