Happy Wednesday!
As you read this post, I’m deep in my chill. Hahaha! This week’s post will be rather short, as I’m in vacation mode right now. This halter dress was made using a “Learn to Sew” pattern by the Simplicity Pattern Company. This is a great pattern for those who are just learning to sew, or want to practice your techniques. There are only three pattern pieces, which makes it even better. You will learn how to insert cording into a casing, apply fringe trim (optional), and apply a bias tape facing.
You can use both woven and knit fabrics for this dress. I chose an ITY (Interlock Twist Yarn) Knit that I picked up from the Michael Levine Loft in Downtown, Los Angeles. Other great choices would be challis, crepe de chine, and lightweight single knits.

Enjoy the rest of your week and give this one a try. It’s easy enough to sew up in one day.
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello 1st timer here. I sew almost daily but I can’t follow a pattern. I was hoping you had a video on dress 8382 but I don’t see one help. I have the pattern all cut out and I’m afraid to cut the material thank you for your help
Thanks Darlene!
I love this dress!! I kept clicking around looking for the video of you making it hahaha. I have to quit being chicken & purchase a machine . . . I’m just worried I won’t thread the sewing machine properly, or that I won’t be able to identify a needed repair. I’m still not sure which type to buy ugh.
Enjoy your vacation & congratulations to your hubby.
In Christ.
Hey August! Listen! Stop worrying about what may happen. Check out the Babylock Sewing Machines. They thread themselves!!!
Thank you so very much for the suggestion.
You did it again Anita. This is a beautiful summer dress. I love it.
Thanks Sheila!
Fabric is fabulous, and I love the links you included. That looks like something I’d live in all summer!
Also…I finished my circle skirt and wore it to Church this past Sunday. So many compliments, no one could believe I made it myself as my first ever garment! I gave the glory to God for granting me patience and a great teacher! Thank you Anita ?
Thanks Tracy! Congratulations on completing your circle skirt, and first garment ever! I’m so proud right now.
Love the dress anita. Hope you will do a sew along on utube as I watch them all and made most of your sew along patterns. Love Susan Peach. England.
Thanks Susan! Seriously, it’s so easy that you may not need a sew along.
Nice. Love the fabric.
Thanks Linda!
