EASTER SUNDAY | WHAT I WORE
I’m popping in with a short blog post to show you what I wore to church on Easter Sunday. I actually made this dress several months ago but never got around to sharing. My plans changed when I woke up and went into my closet because I actually made another dress to wear to church. The other dress was sewn with neutral colors (beige, gray, and white). However, we had cloudy, gray skies and I just wasn’t feeling that dress at the time. I wanted more vibrant colors, so I changed my mind. This dress was just right to match the vibrance of my mood on Resurrection Sunday.
Pattern Information
I used McCall’s 7531, once again, to create a very simple knit dress. Unfortunately, the pattern is out of print. I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve sewn this pattern. You can get more details from my last make with this pattern HERE.
Fabric Information
I used this beautiful CORAL FLORAL JACQUARD KNIT that was left over from this PEPLUM JACKET I made last year. I love the print and it really does look beautiful with McCall’s 7531.
I used a Heavy Weight Upholstery Vinyl Fabric for the belt backing from JoAnn Fabrics. It helped to create the perfect weight and thickness for the belt. I couldn’t find the same fabric on the website that I used , so the link above will point you to options.
Inside the Garment
Here are a few photos of the inside of the dress. I love the backside of the fabric.
Notions Information
I used this BUCKLE to finish off the belt.
Styling Options
I styled the dress with my Burgundy Pumps, Crochet Wristlet, and all pearl jewelry. I also wore my new VINTAGE SWING COAT. It kept me nice and warm going from the car into the building. We had such a beautiful service celebrating our Risen Savior. I’m so grateful for Jesus Christ. He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!

You look beautiful and you sewing is so wonderful
Anita, As always, beautiful and classy and the dress too! Love, love, love it!
Love your dress and accessories! You look very elegant!
Once again, I am amazed at how fabric on the bolt looks so different than it does in person. I need to learn how to visualize this when fabric shopping. I probably would never have chosen this print but now after I see how beautiful it looks on you, I’ll be more aware in the future of fast forwarding the fabric off the bolt into my imagination before the purchase. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hi Anita, it’s so good to see you and you look amazing as always, your Easter dress is just perfect and the colour is fabulous on you. I’ve just watched your new you tube video and I’m so excited to hear your coming back with new sewing tutorials, I watch your tutorials over and over I have all the equipment I need but haven’t got the confidence to cut through the fabric. Now you’ve given me the push I’m definitely going to make one of your skirts from your beginners course and build up my skills as I would only love to be sewing along with you and creating the most wonderful of garments for myself with your help and expertise advice. In your you tube video all your garments are so beautiful, just love the navy dress, the green dress and the A symmetrical top, ooh I could name them all they are all equally gorgeous. Anyways so glad your back I feel like your an old pal of mine, and I’m so looking forward to your new tutorials. God Bless. Bridget🤗
So Beautiful!
Anita, you look beautiful and you’ve made the right choice! I’m so inspired to start sewing again but just don’t know where to start. I have all the equipment except the confidence of doing a great job.
Again you look amazing 🤗
Hi Shelley! Once you start, you will be so happy that you did. Just go for it. You will definitely make mistakes but that’s how you learn. I have learned SO MUCH from my mistakes and I don’t always do a great job. Trust me, we all make mistakes and learn along the way. Please don’t continue to allow fear to prevent you from starting. You’ve sewn before, so you can do this, Shelley. Let’s GO! Come join me in the next sew along on YouTube. I’m gonna walk you through the entire process of sewing a garment.💕
Hey Anita! you look good as usual. but don’t you just love this pattern,I have about six of these dresses, so quick and easy to sew! hope you enjoyed your day! you certainly brightened up the day in that colorful dress!
Thank you Gwendolyn! I love this pattern more than any other I’ve ever sewn. The versatility is unlimited.
Absolutely perfect for Easter Sunday. I’m glad you changed your mind!!!
I understand the change in the color. The color is beautiful. I have this pattern I bought this 3 or 4 years ago and have never touched it. I changed clothes 4 times and just gave up. I need to start sewing again that’s what I need to do with myself. I feel proud of what I make mistakes and all. You looked beautiful in your dress and the color you chose expressed that, wonderful choice.
Oh my goodness, Janet! I have totally been there, in the closet, trying on multiple outfits. That’s when I discovered I had been sewing garments that didn’t fit my lifestyle. I posted a video about it years ago. Yes, get back to sewing so you can make things that you love and feel proud to wear.💕
I bought this pattern maybe 3 years ago and I have not touched it.I understand your reasoning for changing your dress it’s the color which was happy. I know you had a beautiful time. I didn’t like anything I pulled out of my closet I need to start sewing again , that’s when I am at peace . Mistakes and all I made it . I feel proud . You look beautiful in this red print.
Sewing is a peaceful activity for me too. I love it so much. I embrace mistakes as lessons. I’m always learning. Yes, I had a beautiful time at church. 💕
You always look beautiful and also you can pick the right fabric for the dress. I spend ages in the fabric shop and still walk out with nothing. I think I lack imagination of what the fabric will look like when made up. I have used this pattern and it is so easy to make. I could have a new dress everyday!
You’re not alone with the fabric choice issue. I’ve heard from quite a few people who are challenged in that area. I always tell people to look at labels in clothing they have in the closet, or go to the store and look at labels. This way you can see what types of fabrics are typically used on different garments.
I could have a new dress everyday with this pattern too because it’s so quick to sew.💕
Gorgeous dress to celebrate our Risen Savior! Praise God His is indeed Risen!
A floral print is always appropriate for Easter Sunday, as we rejoice and give thanks and praise – Happy Easter!
Anita, you keep me motivated. I have washed most fabric in stash and I am ready to sew. Love the Easter outfit, simply gorgeous!
Yaaay Trish! I love that you wash all your fabric in advance too. No fabric enters my studio without being washed first (if it’s washable).
Love your sewing tutorials. After a very long drought your tutorials have been one of those that got me sewing again. ❤️
I’m so glad you enjoy the tutorials. Stay tuned because more are on the way.🤗
It’s like always, it’s beautiful ; and you look gorgeous in it.
Anita,
Happy Resurrection Day! You look absolutely stunning!
I can see the same fabric at Joann’s and not come close to the vision you may have for a make with it, you are truly gifted! Thank you for sharing your God given gift with us…

Hey Anita,
He is RISEN! We are so blessed as followers of Jesus Christ to live victorious, undefeated, and prosperous lives.
Your Resurrection Sunday dress was a wonderful chose and you were glamorous. I look forward to your next blog and Youtube sewing video.
Yeeeesssss! Victorious, Undefeated, and Prosperous lives in Christ.💕
Hello Anita, you looked absolutely fabulous in your dress and coat on Resurrection Sunday. You definitely made the right choice in styling it with white pearls, as they really did the dress justice. Even the back side of the dress looks wonderful and so very neat! I love that you show all views of your makes. Thank you so much for sharing.
I hope you had a lovely Easter. He is indeed risen.
Love from Jill
Thank you so much, Jill. I had a lovely Resurrection Sunday. I hope you enjoyed your day too. 💕
A great choice for Resurrection Sunday – such vibrancy and color! I’m so happy my Savior arose and I never tire of praising Him – I have something to be happy about. You look the way a child of God’s should look – blessed, happy, and prosperous. Thanks for sharing.
Amen! AMEN!!! Praising Him for He is WORTHY! 💕
Anita. You looked fabulous on Easter Sunday. Love your outfit. Unfortunately,,,, I’m scheduled for knee replacement tomorrow Tuesday,,, so I’ve been busy spring cleaning what I’m able to do,it’s been a real struggle this past month too. Knee must be truly bone on bone. Hurts all the time, even resting. You sew amazingly, plus you are so gorgeous! Love your styles! Take care, Nancy from northeastern Indiana. Fort Wayne.
Hi Nancy! I pray that you are healing and resting well after your surgery. 🙏🏾
You look fantastic. Thank you for sharing. You make me want to see again 😁
Excellent job Anita, is beautiful!
Anita,
You look absolutely beautiful in your dress, especially for Easter. I have that pattern and love the idea with the belt. Thanks for always inspiring me to extend my skills. The outfit comes alive with the shoes!
Thanks for sharing your gift from God!
Thank you so much, Laura! I’m so glad you are enjoying the blogs.💕
As always, absolutely beautiful and love the detailed information you provide. I hope you had an awesome Resurrection Sunday.
Hi Sandra! Yes, I had an amazing Resurrection Sunday. I’m so glad you enjoy the details that I post in the blogs. That makes me happy.
Stunning outfit for Resurrection Sunday! He IS risen indeed!!! I love seeing your projects. Your attention to detail makes all the difference. Some home sewists don’t do that and the garments sadly have that “homemade” look; yours do not! Just such perfection! Thanks for sharing and encouraging us that it can be done!
You are so very welcome, Katherine. The attention to details makes all the difference. 💕
Anita this is stunning! You are so gifted at pulling everything together. I love that you share where you purchased the fabric . That really helps me when I go shopping.
When I think about your influence over this sewing community this verse comes to mind.
Philippians 4:5-7
New International Version
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Anita , know that you are Loved by so many people in this community.
Oh my goodness, Lorraine! Thank you so much for sharing this verse with me in relation to how I present in the community. This really blesses my heart. I am completely humbled. Thank you, from my heart. 💕💕💕
This looks so pretty on you! Happy Easter & Resurrection Day!
Oh, my Goodness! What a wonderful combination of colors and shapes. I love your Easter Inspiration!! He is Risen Indeed!!!
Very Pretty Anita! God Bless You!
You would make it happen in anything you would’ve worn. Looking outstanding!
Love your selection of dress for Easter. Great colors and pattern for that style and looks perfect with that swing coat. I’ve now got my daughter hooked on your posts and she’s loving it
Ooooh, thank you so much, Karen! I am just thrilled to have you and your daughter here. 🤗💕🤗
Beautiful dress . Gorgeous vintage coat. Very very nice Easter ensemble. Fabric’s floral is just the right size so it does not overwhelm your figure . Elegant styling. I agree with you on M7531; it is also one of my favorites.
Thank you Mary Ann! I agree that the flowers are just the right size for that design. But I think I would like it in large florals too. Hmmm… I will have to try that out and see how I like it.
You look gorgeous in that dress I love it!
I love the dress and the flower pattern. Nice choice for Easter.
I absolutely love the dress and the fabric! It is elegant and feminine. It looks beautiful. I love the coat and so enjoyed reading about it when you sent it out. This pattern could be made into a stunning little black dress also.
Thank you so much, Leonor! I must make a little black dress with this pattern because my last one is too big and I don’t want to make alterations. I will probably make several black dresses with this pattern, with different elements.
Beautiful dress. I can’t wait until I hsve enough time to learn your course.
Just lovely. Good choice. Happy Easter!
