Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday. My family celebrated by going to church and having a delicious meal together with just the four of us. Our family celebrates Easter as a reminder that Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for us by giving His life so that we may live.
Easter Dress, 2016 – What I Wore
I like to dress up for church and I wanted to make an Easter Dress that screams “SPRING.” When I saw this delicious lemon colored fabric a while back, I knew I had to have it because I already had a pair of shoes to match. I wanted to make a very simple dress for Easter, so when I came across this gorgeous Butterick design, it was clear I had found my dress. The dress pattern doesn’t call for a lining, but because the fabric is on the thinner side, I needed to insert one. To create the lining, I simply cut the lining fabric, using the same pattern pieces I used to cut the dress, excluding the arm and neck bands. I then sewed the lining together the same as I did for the dress, excluding the zipper insertion. The lining and the dress were basted together, with wrong sides together, at the neckline and arm holes. Finally, the arm and neck bands were attached, the lining was stitched to the zipper tape, and the dress and lining were hemmed separately. In the end, I’m pleased with the outcome.
Create the Look
- Pattern = Butterick 6316 (View B)
- Fabric = Ponte from my stash
- Lining = Jet Set Knit
- Shoes = Steve Madden Serrina
- Hat = Burlington Coat Factory
