Finally, I’ve created a Sew-Along video, after a VERY long break. And boy, oh boy, the fact that I haven’t recorded one in such a long time was very evident. Hahaha!!!
I made every mistake there was to make. It was so funny that I was actually laughing at MYSELF. At one point, I was sewing with the camera turned off. Then I had the camera recording when I wasn’t sewing. Let’s not mention the 1000 retakes and complete 5 days it took to get it done. After Day Two, I had to step away because it was a complete mess. I returned after a couple of days and was ready to DO THIS THING!
Despite all the drama, the Sew-Along video for these cute DIY cropped pants is available on my YouTube channel right now.
The pants are so cute and comfortable, and I really want a pair in every color. But I’m gonna restrain myself and give other cropped designs a chance. Here’s another PAIR that I made recently. Maybe I’ll make just one more pair. Hahaha!
We’re using New Look 6459, and I’ve chosen a gold Linen Blend (53% linen & 47% rayon) fabric from JoAnn’s. Grab your pattern and fabric, meet me on my YouTube channel, and let’s sew together.
Update: The top I’m wearing with the pants is Burda 6795 (Out of Print).
If you’re a beginner, with basic sewing knowledge, you should be able to follow along and make your own DIY cropped pants. I suggest watching the entire video before starting your project. That way, you get an idea of what you’ll be doing.
DIY CROPPED PANTS SEW ALONG

After you subscribe, hit the notification bell so that you get notified when the next video (and all the others that are coming) posts to the channel. Maybe this next video won’t take as long. Hahaha! Click below to watch video!
Thanks for stopping by!
Anita,
Just found your site and want to sew along, but I can’t find this pattern anywhere. Any suggesetions?
The pattern is New look 6459. Is there a similar pattern that you are aware of?
I’m so sorry Debi, but the pattern has been discontinued. You can check the different pattern websites to see if there’s one similar. If I find one, I’ll post in the description box under video on YouTube.
Hi Anita –
I admire your persistence to overcome all obstacles in life! I don’t know where to find New Look 6459? The Simplicity link says it’s discontinued.
Joanie
I won’t be able to participate in the sew-a-long, due to the sizes not being large enough. Sad.
I’m so sorry Kim. Maybe you can follow along with a similar pattern in your size. It’s a basic pant pattern with side pockets, waistband, back zipper and front & back darts.
HA! HA! HA! Anita, yea I know you’re going to do a little more than just one more pair.
But I don’t blame you they really look good.
Hahaha! Thanks Gwen!
I love those pants and you look fabulous in them, as always, Anita!! I don’t do pants but really love your sew-alongs because you are so meticulous in your methods and it is an inspiration to me!! Every time i go press a seam, I think of you saying in your nice and encouraging way — “Now press the seam! Both sides!” even when i don’t want to! LOL
But tell me Anita, how do you keep that linen fabric from wrinkling when you wear it? I just look at a pair of linen pants and they wrinkle up immediately!
Hey Cat! You had me laughing here. Yes, ma’am, PRESS, PRESS, PRESS! I haven’t found a way to keep linen from wrinkling. Especially 100% linen! The linen I used is a blend, so it wrinkles a little less, but it still happens. Sigh!
Anita, I love the way your outfit coordinates. Very impressed at how well your stripes line up. You teach more than sewing by your determination to overcome any obstacles to complete your project and sharing how you dis it. You are a true inspiration.

Can’t wait to sew the pants. What pattern is the top?
Hi Joella! The top is Burda 6795. I need to add that to the post. Thanks for asking.
I am always kicking myself for not getting this pattern before it went OOP.
They look FANTASTIC and that yellow is perfect for summer. And yes, sometimes you just have to walk away…from the sewing! LOL! 🙂
The pattern is still available on the website. Yes, walking away was the best thing. LOL!
