Are you ready for another skirt sew-along? The response to the Pleated Skirt Sew-Along in our Sewing Skirts with Anita Series was amazing! I want to send out a huge SHOUT-OUT to three Private Community Members who completed their skirts and shared with me. Congratulations Frankia, Alicia, and Edna. Your skirts are beautiful and I’m glad to know the video was helpful. I’m highlighting their skirts at the beginning of our Maxi Skirt Sew-Along | SIMPLICITY 8885.
Remember when I said the next video wouldn’t be as long. Well, I did keep it just under an hour, but I went over the 45 minute mark I set for myself. SHOOT!!! Okay, I’m gonna shoot for 45 minutes on the next one. Hahaha!!! It’s those details! The DETAILS!!! Even on a simple skirt!
This is a very easy skirt to sew, with only 2 pattern pieces. Yes, you read correctly! It’s totally beginner friendly. Remember, this Sew-Along Series is for those who have learned the basic techniques of sewing.
The video is available and I have another skirt added to my wardrobe. WooHoo!!!
This time I created 4 different looks for the skirt and I plan to get lots of wear from this one also. Check out the styling options below. I wore it to church last Sunday with the Pussy Bow Blouse and it was really cute.
If you’re part of my Private Email Community, you will be receiving information about the next Sew-Along as soon as I gather the details.

Hello Ms Anita by Design,
I dont know how I did it but I stumbled across your YouTube video for the circle skirt. It was “AMAZING” My passion in high school was sewing. It slipped away when I got married had my children; and now its coming back. I would sew for myself, other women, men, a few bridesmaids dresses. However, the serger and invisible zipper is also where I stopped. Fear of disaster. I always wanted to teach the young girls at my church sewing. But my skills had gotten away from me.
But I thank you for stating at the basics with a project.
Blessings to you,
Cynthia
Hi Cynthia! This is awesome to hear that you’re getting back into sewing. I stopped after I started having children too. I returned to sewing in 2014 when they were pretty independent. I’m so happy to hear that you find the videos helpful as you make your way back. Yes, I love teaching the basics. Welcome back to the sewing community.
