LOUNGEWEAR SET | SIMPLICITY 9337
It’s that time of year when lots of sewists are making pajamas and loungewear for themselves, family members and friends. Those who receive these handmade gifts are greatly blessed, in my opinion. I think we put so much love into our sewing, especially when it’s a gift for someone else. I made this loungewear set for myself and it’s just the right addition to my wardrobe right now. The comfort level is off the scale. I love it so much and I’m so excited to bring you a step-by-step sew along on my YouTube channel. But first, let’s take a look at this awesome set that you can sew for yourself or others.
Pattern Information
Simplicity 9337 is a unisex pattern with long and short sleeve tops with banded round neck. The long sleeve top has a bottom band and sleeve bands, while the short sleeve version has regular hems. The pants and shorts have waist bands, pockets, and are designed to be worn 1″ below the waistline. The pants have leg bands, and the shorts have regular hems. I sewed Views A, B, and C.
This is not a pajama pattern, but that’s the first thing that came to mind when I first saw it. You can definitely make this set for outerwear by choosing an appropriate fabric. I know I will make another loungewear set, but I’m also thinking about making an outerwear set for cooler weather. Then, maybe I’ll make one later for warm weather. All I know is I plan to use this pattern again and again. It’s a great project and I can envision so many nice fabrics that will give it different looks.
The pattern is available in sizes XS – XL (4 – 22). It is rated as EASY sewing level and I agree. If you are a beginner with basic sewing knowledge, you should be able to complete the garments. The pattern instructions are straight forward and simple to follow along. Here are some closeup photos of the garments.
Fabric Information
The pattern is sized for stretch knits only, such as, Cotton Lycra, Jersey and Bamboo Knits. I used a lightweight rib knit jersey. I don’t remember where I purchased the fabric because I’ve had it I’m my collection for a long time.
However, I think the Wide Rib EcoVero Viscose Knit from Core Fabrics is a great option for this set. The fabric has a beautiful drape and great recovery. You can get 15% off your entire order (except sale items) when you use my code: ANITA15. (This is an affiliate link.)
Inside the Garment
I used my Baby Lock Chorus Sewing Machine to sew all the main seams and the Baby Lock Vibrant Serger to finish the seam allowances. Both machines and any others can be purchased with a 10% discount when you use my code (SAVE10-AAM4). See the machines and more details. Here are some closeup views of the insides of all three garments.
Notions Information
The pattern calls for 1/2 yard of hem tape, twill tape or clear elastic for Views A and B. You will need 1 3/8 yards of 1 1/2″ wide elastic; and 2 yards of 1/2″ wide twill tape for Views C and D. Finally, you’ll need a scrap piece of fusible interfacing for buttonholes.
Alterations Information
I cut a Size XS for all three garments. However, I added 1/8″ to the side seams on the pants to add just a little extra ease. Other than that, there were no changes. I love the fit of my loungewear.
Styling Options
Well, the only styling I care about with this set is a pair of comfortable slippers. I purchased them from Costco maybe a month ago and they keep my feet so warm. I’m happy that I made both tops because I have options. I can wear these pieces for lounging and sleeping. I’m a happy lady.
Sew Along Now Available
Let’s sew this set together. There is a new Loungewear Sew Along available for this set on my YouTube channel. I’m walking you through the entire process, step-by-step, with lots of details. Enjoy the video.
What do you think?
Will you be sewing any of these pieces with me. Are you Team Long Sleeves & Pants, or Team Short Sleeves & Shorts? Or are you a mix of both? I would love to hear your feedback. Scroll to the very bottom of this page to leave a comment.
